The 30-Day Source-Backed Guarantee. Read the volumes. Check the citations against the original documents. If the sourcing does not hold up to the standard described on our sales page, email us within 30 days of purchase and we will refund you in full — and you keep the files.
Why the guarantee is worded that way
We guarantee the part we control: that every method names a real document you can go and verify. We cannot guarantee that you will enjoy the books, or that a particular historical method will suit your house, your climate or your project. So the promise is about the sourcing standard, because that is the promise we can actually keep.
In practice we are not difficult about this. If you bought the books and they are not what you expected, tell us and we will refund you.
How to request a refund
- Email help@theforgottenmanual.com within 30 days of your purchase.
- Include the email address you used at checkout, or your order reference.
- Tell us briefly what was wrong. You do not have to justify yourself, but if something is genuinely broken we would like the chance to fix it for everyone.
We aim to reply within two working days. Approved refunds go back to your original payment method and typically appear within 5–10 working days, depending on your bank.
You keep the files
We do not ask you to delete anything, and we have no way to take a downloaded PDF back. Asking would be theatre. If the books were not right for you, the refund is the point — not a negotiation.
The limits
We may decline a refund where there is clear evidence of abuse: repeated buy-and-refund cycles on the same account, or redistribution of the files. This is a small independent project, and that kind of thing is paid for by everyone else.
If you are in the EU or UK
Digital content delivered immediately is normally exempt from the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal once download has begun, and you agree to that immediate delivery at checkout. Our 30-day guarantee is offered voluntarily and is more generous than the statutory position, so it applies either way. Your other statutory rights, including for content that is faulty or not as described, are unaffected.
Something went wrong with delivery?
That is not a refund matter — just email us. Lost link, expired link, wrong file, cannot open the EPUB: we will sort it out and reissue at no charge, however long ago you bought.
